So, we are a little behind on updating the blog. Just when I thought that we were getting some sort of a schedule, John Paul developed a skin allergy and dairy allergy. Needless to say, he has been a little cranky because of the itchy face and upset stomach. He is much better now that we got a cream for his rash and I've cut dairy products from my diet. (Do you realize that dairy is in almost everything yummy???? At least it will be easier to loose the "baby weight" since I can't have ice cream, cheese, butter, etc.)
In the last week, we had lunch with good friends (Joyce and Erin) and made our first road trip to Waco to celebrate family birthdays. Here are a few photos:

John Paul is 2 weeks old!
As of yesterday, John Paul is 2 weeks old. In his short 2 week life, he has already accomplished many things:
2 doctors visits (the doctor actually said he is perfect!), grown 2 inches, gained 11 ounces, gotten a bigger head (no, not from hearing how cute he is), moved to stage 1 diapers, and 1 trip to Walmart (Mom would have preferred Target but time is an issue these days).
Last weekend, all the family finally met John Paul. His Aunt JoAnna, cousins Bailey and Abby, Great Grammy, and Uncle Stephen all came to visit. He didn't seem to mind the attention.
We are still learning and adjusting to our new phase of life. Probably the most entertaining is watching Dad change diapers. Most of the time it goes smoothly but occasionally, the pee shoots in all directions when the head is turned! (too be fair, it has happened to Mom too!) So, Parenting lesson #2: Always take cover, never turn your head, and throwing the diaper in the stream of pee doesn't help!

Welcome to our blog.
So it begins...
John Paul was born on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 2:19PM. He weighed in at 8lbs 3oz and was 19". He came home from the hospital on Saturday and has spent the first week at home with mom, dad, and grandmother. So far only one bad pee accident (parenting lesson #1 - Don't leave a baby without a diaper on your bed).
